This is a project that was carried out by Nick Case, the MD of Purepaint on his own house. He wanted to create a loft conversion that was as energy efficient as possible using sustainable materials, making it a fully airtight and breathable structure. The ceiling and all the walls, including the party walls are insulated with large quantities of English sheepswool and the large windows that were chosen to make the most of the stunning views over Brighton, have Argon gas filled 24mm double glazing. The result is that even in the freeze over Xmas and new year 2009/10 the loft is warm with no heating at all. Result!
